Tie & dye

Searching the net for a craft fitting the India theme of N's party, the tie & dye-technique popped up. I had never tried it, but it looked simple enough to undertake with 6- and 7-years old. I bought some pillows and I pre-cut pieces of white fabric for the front and coloured fabric for the back. The kids tied marbles in the white fabric with rubber bands and threw it in a bucket with aqua dye. Stirred once in a while. An hour and a short program in the washing machine later they could see the results. After the party I made these pillowcases and we delivered them at the kids' homes.
