Natures gifts
Blackbirds were nesting in our ivy. The two chicks must have flown out, because their nest was empty a few days ago. We took de nest out of the hedge to study the details. The birds used, besides twigs, all kinds of plastics to make their beautiful nest. And there was one pitiable cold greenish egg left. Another find last week was the large fossil that the kids discovered in a stone next to our vegetable garden. They asked me to send a picture to their favourite museum Naturalis, to ask them what kind of fossil it is. We're still waiting for the answer. Update: the girls got a reaction from the museum. How cool! The fossil is most problaby an ammonite, an ancient squid.
