Carboniferous
On the last day of autumn break we went fossil hunting at the 2nd Maasvlakte. This piece of reclaimed land was made with sand from the sea and with the sand all kinds of fossils were thrown ashore. It was a guided search, which was nice, because we got several tips on what to look for. Here our best find: very, very old fossilised coral (earlier than dinosaurs, to put it in perspective). But this was nothing compared to the huge mammoth tooth one boy found! You can see it here.
