Meet your meat

Today we went to 'lekker naar de boer' (can be roughly translated as: 'fun at the farm'). Many biological farms open their doors this weekend to have the consumers meet the basis of their food. We went to Bleijendijk estate. Caressing calfs, seeing them jump into the meadows, watching a cow in labour (the strict woman farmer unfortunately didn't allow anyone to watch the birth, because 'did you want viewers when you were delivering?' And she was right, of course, but the girls would have loved to see it happen) and making your own butter (didn't know it was that easy).
