Johannes Vermeer
This bag is made for a swap with Hilde from Belgium. She liked the vintage bag I made before. But except for the model this bag came out completely different. I hope she likes it anyway. The tapestry I used was made after a painting of the famous dutch painter Vermeer. It depicts a little street in Delft. Hilde makes lovely dolls and now she has made one for me. I'm not sure yet whether I'm going to keep it for myself or give it to my daughters to play with....

Beautiful.
I have to admit that in spite of visiting lots of museums in my life, I first heard of Johannes Vermeer when I read a book Girl with a pearl earring.
Wooh, wat mooi! Heb je het borduurwerk ook nog zelf gedaan?
I bought a japanese bag book about 6 months ago and today finally bought some fabric when Ella and I went shopping. I HOPE to try and figure the cutting out tomorrow - if there is anything approximating success, I'll let you know.
This bag is too cool! Such great use of that old tapestry, it looks all fresh, trendy and new :)
