From Sweden

One of my favorite sites for tutorials is One Pretty Thing. There I found the link to this valentine garland-tutorial. I made it from a leaflet of the spa we recently visited.
Just curious: today a lot of swedish people were visiting this blog (I saw in the stats). I would love to know where you found my weblog. Tell me.

Copycat

Yesterday I poored these spoons during ceramic-lesson. Lovely, don't you think? Unfortunately not my own idea. It is one of the beautiful products of Mara Skujeniece. I discovered her work in this amazing restaurant Proef. I thought it wouldn't be a problem to copy it for my own use.

For Liset and Bev

This morning the stamps for the winners of my 200th-post-give-away were sent. I hope they will like them.

Fourth

Tagged by Hilde: take the fourth picture from the fourth map on your computer and tag four bloggers. I just 'cleaned up' my computer because I'm switching to a new one. So there are only pictures of this year on it. This fourth-of-the-fourth-picture is made in my parents greenery. It is accompanied by the sixth picture. The ice-pattern on the windows was the reason for taking pictures. I tag: Flora, Blij als Mij, One Crafty Mumma and A Spoon Full of Sugar

Weekend-activities

Lucky at the secondhand-store again. Five craftbooks: softy-patterns, working with fimo-clay, all about textile, origami and working with clay for children. From this last book is the project you see here. My daughters and I made and painted these clay flowers this weekend. Hung from a small branch they make a nice spring-mobile. Spring is not yet there but we already discovered the first flower in our garden!

Una-na

Some time ago I got an order to make a doll for a little girl turning one. I was already thinking about designing a doll and this is a great opportunity. The birthday is in july, so there's time to do some research on the subject of dolls and softies. The Hijn-project was a first try. This lady is the following attempt. From this Japanese book. It features just one prototype of doll, with a lot of variations and a complete wardrobe. All very stylish. What I discovered, now I started to make dolls and animals, is that it is very hard to part from them. But I'll be strong and give this girl away. More about that later.

Surprise

Second lesson in ceramics. I added some twigs to the cup before pooring the clay. I wanted to make twig-prints on the outside of the cup. Instead they showed up on the inside. Unexpected but nice.

101

Yeah, a picture of one of my stamps in a magazine. It is a pity that my name or blog is not mentioned, but I'm proud anyway. (Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures)

Relax-express

It had been a very long time since we spend a few days doing nothing. Here in Therme Vals we managed to do nothing but floating in the warm water of the pool outside overlooking the snowy mountains, read and eat. Just what we needed. If you ever come to Switserland make sure you visit this beautiful spa. In the meantime the girls had a great time with their grandparents.

Love birds

Yesterday-evening I had the first lesson of a course in ceramics. It was an introduction-lesson on different techniques. We made porcelain cups by pooring clay into a cast. And we also did some modelling by hand. I think this course is going to be fun.

The winners are.....

I did not expect so many comments on the give-away. Wow! And so kind! Thanks again. And since you are with so many I let the random number-generator pick two winners. Lisette from Handmade Liset and Farawayme from Up the Tree are the lucky ones.

More

On thursday my girls will go to my parents to stay there for five days. They've never spend more than one night without us. The little ladies are not nervous about it, but I am a little bit (in spite of the lovely trip we are going to make). I made them both a small friend to take with them. Made from a dear old vest and shirt. Enough hijns/brabbogs for a while.

Hijn

You all guessed that the little fellow wouldn't leave our house. So a second one had to be made. With a striped suit this time. He has arrived in his new home and I heard that he and his new owner, Lot, are friends already. (the pattern is from a japanese craftbook with this isbn-number: ISBN452904114X)

Good company

Friends from the USA visited us today. So I made a, of course, fabric-basket for them. It was used to hold the cookies my daughters baked (with a little help). To accompany the lunch we made pear-roquefort- soupe from this book. Some recipes are simple, others complex but the result is always delicious.

Cold

There's snow and it has been freezing for two weeks. Poor birds. My daughters and little friend Sara made them these peanut-and-popcorn-garlands.

Dog or rabbit?

This little fellow, hanging loosely against a tree, was made as a gift. But I'm not sure we want to be seperated from him. But then I would have to make another item to give away.....

Felt feet

Wow, so many comments on my last post already! Thank you for all your kind words. A give-away like this appears to be a good way to get to know some of the visitors of your blog.
These little booties are for Kièro, baby of one of my former colleagues. Last time I talked to her she was single. Now she has a man, an older child, she moved and gave birth to a baby-boy! I'm happy for her. Congrats, Belinda. The booties are made of green felt with Snowwhite-ribbon from Rosa Pomar. The pattern is from Heather Baily.

200-posts-give-away

Blogging is so much fun! When I started little over a year ago I never expected to have posted 200 messages so soon. And I still can't believe the amount of visitors to my blog each day. This calls for a celebration. A personalized-stamp-give-away. Leave a message on this post before the 15th of January and I'll draw a winner. The stamps you see here are on their way to a lovely family in Madrid.

Crafting japanese

Today we visited friends. And of course we took some handmade goodies. Chocolate-chip-cupcakes and for the kids a pencilcase with pencils and some felt fruit to play with. From the book about making felt food I bought in the japanese bookstore in Paris. Here you can find some more pictures and the isbn-number.

Big empty spot in the livingroom

Next monday christmas-trees will be picked up in the neighbourhood, so we had to dismantle ours. The girls did a perfect job without any damage. But it is worth the risk of broken pieces when you see how much they enjoy doing this important task.
