Baking day

While watching a cooking programm our eldest asked if she could bake a cake on her own. Of course I said. We picked a recipe from Yvette van Bovens' Homemade Zomer and made a grocery list. Watching this, her sister also wanted to bake something. Ok, a recipe and list for her too. We ended up making a fruitcake, chocolate cookies, french toast and pumpkin soup and had a wonderful harmonious day in the kitchen. I really like the fact that it was their idea, their activity and I was just facilitating. Feels like a new fase.
