A nuclear power plant is not the prettiest background, but Kaloot beach is one of the few places in the Netherlands to find fossils. We went fossil hunting for the first time today and were really pleased with the output. The top row in the right picture shows the fossils we found: shells, shark teeth and fossilised wood. The items below are collected for their beauty. The two small white shells in the middle are antique asian money shells, Kauri, from sunken VOC ships. How special is that! We gathered information about fossils in the book De fossielen ontdekgids, printable fossil chart and fossiel.net (all in Dutch).
